Internship: Event Management
2015 Game Day Spring/Summer Internship - Regular Season Games - Charlotte Hounds (Charlotte, NC)

The Charlotte Hounds are looking for energetic, outgoing interns to assist front office staff with game day activities (operations, fan experiences, public relations, customer service, etc.) for the 2015 season. The season runs from early April - early August. This is a non-paid position that runs from April-August. Must be 18 years old or older to volunteer. 

  • Field Crew - Responsibilities include setup and teardown of field signage, stadium banners, safety netting, goals, Player Tunnel and other miscellaneous items as needed.
  • Section Hosts - Stationed in the main seating area, responsibilities include greeting fans and season ticket holders, checking tickets, assisting with locating seats, directing traffic and providing answers to basic questions to ensure everyone is having a positive experience.
  • Promotions - Responsibilities include setup, management and teardown of activities in the Fan Zone - Hounds Accuracy Shot, Cornhole Boards, Sponsor Tents, etc. 
  • Box Office - Ticket Operations
  • Retail - Merchandise Sales and Operations

Interns must be able to work at least four (4) of the seven home games during the 2015 season at American Legion Memorial Stadium.

Denver Outlaws Game Day Internship - Denver Outlaws Lacrosse (Denver, CO)

The Denver Outlaws are currently seeking Game Day interns for the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team, 2014 MLL Champions. This summer internship will be part-time, mostly game days only and allow a student the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands-on involvement.

The game day internship is geared more towards those looking for hands-on, live event experience. From running on-field promotions, to setting up and managing pre and post-game events, to executing sponsorships…those who help the live execution of the lacrosse events will certainly wear multiple hats on game days.

Game day interns MUST be able to commit to the entire Outlaws home schedule- May 3, May 24, May 29, June 20, July 4, July 19 and July 25. There is no office work involved in the game day internship…just working at the lacrosse events at Sports Authority Field and select community outreach or promotional events.

Summer Public Relations Intern - Denver Outlaws Lacrosse (Denver, CO)

The Denver Outlaws are currently seeking a summer intern who will focus on Public Relations for the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team, 2014 MLL Champions. This summer internship will be part-time and allow a student the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands-on involvement in the area of Public Relations.

Desired term of the internship is late April 2015 – early August 2015. 

AREAS OF FOCUS:

  • Planning and execution of gameday activities, including assistance with press area operations and managing TV/photo credentialed media during games, live social media updates, and the recording and transcribing of postgame press conferences
  • Provide research and writing support for all Outlaws publications including: press releases, weekly feature stories and game previews, game notes, media guide, etc.
  • Update player bios and statistics throughout the season after each game
  • Support and assist with maintenance of team website, as well as social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Assist with media requests during practices, events, etc.
  • Transcribe weekly MLL coaches calls
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be able to commit to approximately 10 hours per week
  • Must be available to work ALL seven (7) Outlaws home games
  • Prefer a Junior or Senior in College or equivalent experience
  • Prefer candidates with prior sports information/sports journalism experience

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Major League Lacrosse is seeking a hardworking, creative, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to fill an available internship opportunity in its Brand Management Department specifically targeting the protection and maintenance of its intellectual properties.

Position will report directly to the League’s Brand Manager.  Position is un-paid however academic credit is always available to anyone who requests it ahead of time.  Candidate must provide their own transportation where necessary.

EXPECTED SCHEDULE COMMITMENT:

Position is available for immediate start date and may be flexible in duration with a minimum of a 3 month/12 week commitment to the position.  Extension of commitment may be granted upon request based on performance during initial period.

Candidate will be required to meet in MLL office once each week with MLL Brand Manager for regular status review of projects.  All other work is done remotely with periodic check in as necessary via phone and email with Brand Manager.  Additional office meetings may be scheduled as deemed necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a familiarity with all brand marks and a working knowledge of the US Patent & Trademark office and Canadian Intellectual Property Office websites with relation to status of all owned properties.

Search internet for various use of company owned and trademarked images, names and photography and review findings with MLL Brand Manager for next course of action.

Have a working knowledge of the League and Member Team sponsor partners with regard to permissible use of brand marks.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES:

Professional Requirements:

Open to current law students and/or recent college graduates with a legal degree, preferably with a concentration in trademark/intellectual property law.

Familiarity with social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for purposes of researching and obtaining evidence of unauthorized use of properties.

Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

All interns, regardless of department, are expected to assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

Front office is located in Powell, Ohio. Desired term of the internship is February 2015 - August 2015. 

The Spring/Summer 2015 Ticket Sales Interns will be responsible the following duties:

  • Responsible for working Machine community events and promotions and ALL home games
  • Assist with the planning and execution of group events
  • Assist sales department with large mailings
  • Perform administrative tasks, data entry and community outreach
  • Create, perform and review surveys to increase and improve the Machine’s database
  • Assist with the servicing and sale of any group tickets, birthday party packages and promotional ticket packages
  • Help plan, organize and execute Machine community events
  • Work with group leaders to develop and implement game day events and experiences that result in large ticket purchases and repeat business
  • Develop a pipeline to new customers to support long-term growth objectives
  • Create awareness of team in local markets through business-to-business marketing
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
  • Major: Sales, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or Sport Management (preferred, but not required)
  • Exciting, compelling written and oral presentation skills, Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of lacrosse preferred but not required
