Spring 2018 Merchandising Internship - New York Lizards (Garden City, NY)

The New York Lizards, New York’s Major League Lacrosse team, are looking for 2018 Spring Merchandising Interns who will report directly to the Merchandising Director.

Lizards' internships are part-time and allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience. The Lizards accept applications from students presently enrolled in a college program. Internships are unpaid and students are REQUIRED to receive college credit.

All interns, regardless of department, are expected to assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

The 2018 Spring Merchandising Interns will be responsible the following duties:

  • Assist with weekly inventory counts before and after special events
  • Fulfill online orders
  • Assist with fulfillment of custom jersey orders
  • Assist in management of the online team store
  • Supervise all merchandise sales during special events and serve as main contact for other interns and fans with merchandise related inquiries
  • Assist with set up and break down of merchandise tent at all special events
  • Assist with marketing efforts directly relating to merchandise sales

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
  • Must be able to attend special events as necessary. Night and weekends may be required.
  • Available beginning  January through May 2018 for the Spring semester. Interns able to start in January are strongly preferred.
  • Majors: Merchandising, Business/Management or Marketing
  • Excellent writing and computer skills, AP style knowledge and Microsoft Office skills
  • Adobe InDesign and Photoshop knowledge a plus

This part-time position for college credit only is a valuable and unique opportunity to work within a professional sports organization through hands-on experience. The Spring Graphic Design Internship is designed to help the New York Lizards gear up for the 2018 season as intern applications are accepted from students presently enrolled in a college program. To be clear, this is an unpaid internship that requires applicants to be receiving college credit.

All interns, regardless of department, are expected to assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

The 2018 Spring Graphic Design Interns will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Development of print and digital collateral 
  • Assist in creating handouts, fliers, media guide, email blasts, etc.
  • Assist in maintenance of team website, as well as social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Responsible for working at events, lacrosse and non-lacrosse related, the New York Lizards are invited to attend throughout the tri-state area, when necessary
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned (general marketing and game day operations)

Business Analytics Internship – Spring 2018 - The New York Lizards (Garden City, NY)

The New York Lizards, New York’s Major League Lacrosse team, are looking for qualified individuals to join the team as Business Analytics interns during the spring (January 2018 through May 2018) semester.  All candidates must be eligible to receive college credits.   Business Analytics interns will report directly to Lizards' Vice President of Ticket Sales and Operations and provide support to all initiatives regarding consumer insights, data analytics through data entry, analysis, and any other Business Analytics initiatives that will have a direct impact on the organization.  

Lizards' internships are part-time and allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience. The Lizards accept applications from students presently enrolled in a college program. Internships are unpaid and students are REQUIRED to receive college credit.

A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

  • Experience working on a database append/cleanup project for a company or organization is beneficial.  
  • Experience working on a statistical project and/or modeling for a sports team is beneficial

The 2018 Spring Business Analytics interns will be responsible the following duties:

  • Assist with lead generation, lead scoring, and evaluation of all sales and marketing campaigns
  • Identify new customer segments that would enhance revenues and drive growth; includes doing analytical research and building fan profiles
  • Assist with compiling and evaluating historical and current sales data and demographics
  • Build and structure consumer insight surveys from start to finish.
  • Creating systems and structures to house and maintain data.
  • Analyze large data sets to determine relevant trends and significant data points.
  • Build mass email communications and surveys through Hubspot and Google Forms and analyze interaction metrics.
  • Research best practices for data analysis.
  • Contribute to CRM and data analytics initiatives across the sales and marketing departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Full-time undergraduate/graduate student majoring in business management, statistics, data analysis, mathematics or computer science preferred.

  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High proficiency of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access)

Internships are unpaid and students are strongly encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.  In addition, excellent candidates may be asked to return during the summer for paid roles.

The New York Lizards, New York’s Major League Lacrosse team, are looking for Spring Youth Programming Interns who will report directly to the Director of Youth Lacrosse. 

Job Purpose:

Youth Programming interns will be working with lacrosse players of all ages throughout the fall. This includes helping in relation to tournaments, clinics and coaching. Interns in office will assist in the further development of the department through sales, marketing, and working with our secondary website to promote all programs that are offered to youth. 

The 2018 Spring Youth Programming Interns will be responsible the following duties:

  •  Attend lacrosse and non-lacrosse related community events and tournaments to market youth lacrosse programming
  •  Assist with the development of camp and clinic curriculum
  •  Assist with supervising camps, clinics, and tournaments
  •  Assist with maintenance of camp registration and travel team websites
  •  Assist with any other tasks assigned (general sales, marketing and game day operations)


Qualifications and Requirements:

  •  Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
  •  Available January - May 2018
  •  Background in lacrosse and/or working with children strongly preferred
  •  Must be available to attend all camps, clinics and tournaments, and other Lizards events.
  • Execution of previous clinics, & tournaments a plus
