Sales and Operations Fall Intern - Chesapeake Bayhawks (Annapolis, MD)

The Bayhawks Sales Intern experiences the fast-paced working environment of Major League Lacrosse while gaining experience in sales, business development and customer service. The Sales Intern will assist the Sales team in producing ticket revenue by selling and servicing ticket packages to local businesses and non-profit organizations, primarily by phone and outreach events. This individual will gain experience in generating new business by prospecting new clients throughout the community. While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports management field, it is a non-paid position, however we work with each intern to meet the course requirements needed  in order to earn academic credit for his/her internship participation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a solid knowledge of the sales and business development process.*
  • Prospect and conduct sales calls to assigned leads in effort to sell season, group/corporate and partial plan ticket packages available with the Bayhawks.*
  • Provide daily assistance to the Marketing and Operations Teams including planning and execution of each promotion and sponsor campaign event.*
  • Attend team and community events
  • Maintain customer sales database.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and appearances.
  • Work hand-in-hand with interns and staff on various assignments before, during, and after games.
  • Help develop and execute off season activities.
  • Participate in additional administrative tasks as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Eligible candidates include both Undergraduate and Graduate students.
  • Recommended for Sports Management, Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality majors.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a positive and optimistic attitude.
  • Ability to work well in a team based environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must possess working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop.
  • Must be self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Travel Requirements:

Major League Lacrosse is seeking hard working, creative, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals to fill available internship opportunities in its Digital Media Marketing Department.

Position is un-paid however academic credit is always available to anyone who requests it ahead of time.  Candidate must provide their own transportation.

All interns, regardless of department, are expected to assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and Execute MLL marketing campaigns across all League digital channels.
  • Development of graphic and multimedia elements across digital channels to increase fan followings and drive fan engagement.
  • Creating and editing graphics for the League’s digital media channels and e-mail releases and insider newsletters including but not limited to sponsor advertisements, promotional banners and photos.
  • Design and build new site pages, special sections, multimedia applications, and sponsored content for the League’s digital platforms, utilizing HTML, CSS, Javascript and Flash software.
  • Oversee/perform routine website maintenance and all future development.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Open to current college juniors (class of 2016) and seniors (class of 2015), current graduate students and/or recent college graduates.
  • Experience utilizing social media programs primarily Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Photoshop/Illustrator, and/or Adobe In Design knowledge.

The New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse, are looking for 2015 Sales and Marketing looking to gain a foothold into the sports business industry for the Fall semester.  In this role you will report directly to Lizards Senior Leadership and gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience in sales campaigns, prospecting and lead generation. ticket and sponsorship activation and marketing promotions. 

This internship is available for full and part-time candidates, eligible to work for college credit only from September through December, 2015. Candidates are responsible for all travel and parking.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Candidates must have a desire to work hard to gain sales experience in the professional sports/entertainment industry. Looking for aggressive, intelligent, social, 'people person(s)'. Candidates must be reliable, enthusiastic and self motivated. The Ohio Machine, Ohio’s Major League Lacrosse team, is looking for Fall/Winter 2015 Events & Operations Interns who will report to the Director of Public Relations & Operations.

Machine internships are part-time and allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on involvement.   • Responsible for setup and breakdown of the Coaches Convention.
  • Interact with coaches, players, and officials.
  • Database collection, input and management.
  • Assist with marketing the 2015 Ohio Machine Coaches Convention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
