2015 Spring/Summer Internship - Regular Season Games - Charlotte Hounds (Charlotte, NC)

The Charlotte Hounds are looking for energetic, outgoing interns to assist front office staff with game day activities (operations, fan experiences, public relations, customer service, etc.) for the 2015 season. The season runs from early April - early August. This is a non-paid position that runs from April-August. Must be 18 years old or older to volunteer. 

  • Field Crew - Responsibilities include setup and teardown of field signage, stadium banners, safety netting, goals, Player Tunnel and other miscellaneous items as needed.
  • Section Hosts - Stationed in the main seating area, responsibilities include greeting fans and season ticket holders, checking tickets, assisting with locating seats, directing traffic and providing answers to basic questions to ensure everyone is having a positive experience.
  • Promotions - Responsibilities include setup, management and teardown of activities in the Fan Zone - Hounds Accuracy Shot, Cornhole Boards, Sponsor Tents, etc. 
  • Box Office - Ticket Operations
  • Retail - Merchandise Sales and Operations

Interns must be able to work at least four (4) of the seven home games during the 2015 season at American Legion Memorial Stadium.

2015 Spring/Summer Internship - Community Relations - Charlotte Hounds (Charlotte, NC)

The Charlotte Hounds Internship Program provides college students and recent graduates with the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in the professional sports industry.

As one of our interns you’ll play a key role in achieving one common goal: to be a best-in-class professional sports organization, focused on business objectives and dedicated to providing a unique sports environment that entertains and embraces the community.

The Charlotte Hounds Internship program begins in March and concludes in mid August. These internships are unpaid, however the experience is invaluable and students are highly encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.
 

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

This internship is specifically focused on creativity and grassroots marketing while building and maintaining individual and business relationships within the community. We strive to help grow the sport of lacrosse in Charlotte and throughout the Carolinas by taking a genuine interest in youth players, programs and community events while actively engaging in helping to improve our community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Generating ideas and programs that increase the team’s impact in the community
  • Facilitating the Hounds presence at various community events
  • Execution of community programs
  • Tracking and managing merchandise
  • Representing the Charlotte Hounds at community and network events
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Youth Programming Internship – Spring and Summer 2015 - The New York Lizards (Garden City, NY)

The New York Lizards, New York’s Major League Lacrosse team, are looking for 2015 Spring and Summer Youth Programming Interns who will report directly to the Director of Youth Lacrosse.

Lizard’s internships are part-time and allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience. The Lizards accept applications from students presently enrolled in a college program. Internships are unpaid and students are strongly encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.

All interns, regardless of department, are expected to assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

The 2015 Spring and Summer Youth Programming Interns will be responsible the following duties:

  •       Attend lacrosse and non-lacrosse related community events and tournaments to market youth lacrosse programming
  •       Assist with the development of camp and clinic curriculum
  •       Assist with supervising camps, clinics, and tournaments
  •       Assist with maintenance of camp registration and travel team websites
  •       Assist with any other tasks assigned (general marketing and game day operations)

Qualifications and Requirements:

  •       Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
  •       Available beginning January 2015 through May 2015 for the Spring semester and May through August 2015 for the Summer semester. Interns able to stay for both semesters strongly preferred.
  •       Background in lacrosse and/or working with children
  •       Must be available to attend all camps, clinics and tournaments, as well as all Lizard’s home games
  •      Exceptional work ethic, strong desire to succeed, professionalism, and a passion for the sports industry
  •      Display strong communication and interpersonal skills
  •      Show initiative and be a self-starter
  •      Must be able to work nights and weekends

All interns, regardless of department, are expected to assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

The 2015 Spring and Summer Graphic Design Interns will be responsible the following duties:

  •       Development of print and digital collateral 
  •       Assist in creating handouts, fliers, media guide, email blasts, etc.
  •       Assist in maintenance of team website, as well as social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  •      Responsible for working at events, lacrosse and non-lacrosse related, the New York Lizards are invited to attend throughout the tri-state area, when necessary
  •      Assist with any other tasks assigned (general marketing and game day operations)

 Qualifications and Requirements:

  •       Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
  •       Available beginning January 2015 to end of April 2015 - option to stay for 2015 season (May-August 2015)
  •       Majors: Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing
  •       Strong knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

The Lizards accept applications from students presently enrolled in a college program. Internships are unpaid and students are strongly encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.

A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

The 2015 Spring and Summer Game Day Operations/Events Interns will be responsible the following duties:

  •      Pre-game set-up and post-game breakdown
  •      Help with promotions both in the crowd & off the field
  •      Interact with crowd
  •      Work with mascot
  •      Help with pre-game and postgame concourse interactions
  •      Help create new and interesting in-game promotions
  •      Assist front office staff with local marketing initiatives in the community
  •      Attend all seven home games and weekend community events
     

Qualifications and Requirements:
