Sales Intern - Chesapeake Bayhawks (Annapolis, MD)

The Bayhawks Sales Intern experiences the fast-paced working environment of Major League Lacrosse while gaining experience in sales, business development and customer service. The Sales Intern will assist the Sales team in producing ticket revenue by selling and servicing ticket packages to local businesses and non-profit organizations, primarily by phone and outreach events. This individual will gain experience in generating new business by prospecting new clients throughout the community. While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports management field, it is a non-paid position, however we work with each intern to meet the course requirements needed  in order to earn academic credit for his/her internship participation. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a solid knowledge of the sales and business development process.*
  • Prospect and conduct sales calls to assigned leads in effort to sell season, group/corporate and partial plan ticket packages available with the Bayhawks.*
  • Attend team and community events for the purpose of making new connections and maximizing sales opportunities.*
  • Provide exceptional customer service to fans during games at our ticket kiosks.
  • Maintain customer sales database.
  • Assist Sales Department and Box Office with game day preparations.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and appearances.
  • Work hand-in-hand with interns and staff on various assignments before, during, and after games.

Summer Marketing/Partnerships Intern - Denver Outlaws Lacrosse (Denver, CO)

The Denver Outlaws are currently seeking a summer intern who will focus on marketing, community relations, event planning, partnerships and ticket sales for the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team, 2014 MLL Champions. This summer internship will be full time and allow a student the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on involvement. The intern will assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

Candidate must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player with strong communication skills. Candidate must be a self-starter, comfortable making phone calls and meeting people and a willingness to show self-initiative. This person will be energetic, responsible and eager to gain hands-on experience.

Front office is located in Denver, CO at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Desired term of the internship is May 2015 - August 2015. 

The 2015 Summer Sponsorship & Marketing Intern will be responsible the following duties:

  • Responsible for helping at Outlaws community events and promotions, and ALL home games
  • Assist with marketing and promotional campaigns
  • Assist with planning, coordination and implementation of special events and promotions
  • Assist with game day operations where necessary
  • Assist in organizing and executing Corporate Partner activities and events

2015: SPECIAL EVENTS & BRAND MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP - Major League Lacrosse (Boston, MA)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Major League Lacrosse is seeking a hard working, creative, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to fill an available internship opportunity in its League Special Events & Brand Management Department.

Position will report directly to the League’s Brand Manager.  Position is un-paid however academic credit is always available to anyone who requests it ahead of time.  Candidate must provide their own transportation.

EXPECTED SCHEDULE COMMITMENT:

Position is roughly 6 months (26 weeks), covering part of the 2015 spring semester and summer of 2015.  

Start date is 2/16/2015 and end date is 8/14/2015.

Candidate will be required to work in office 3 days per week, normally Mondays, Wednesdays &

Thursdays:

o   Daily arrival/depart times can be flexible based on individual needs (to accommodate for school or other work).

o   2/16/15 to 5/18/15:  Daily hours may be half days due to class schedule, if applicable.

o   5/25/15 to 8/14/15:  Daily hours shall be 8hrs.

If needed, ability and willingness to work some irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays due to the nature of professional sports.

The ability and willingness to do light travel which may include training camps, regular season games, League special events, and related lacrosse marketing events outside of MLL.  Travel costs would be covered by the League if candidate is requested.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Some regular operational support required for the Lacrosse Operations department such as data entry and light filing projects.

Planning and execution of marketing and operational logistics for League All-Star game and Championship Game.

Assist with fulfillment of brand management of MLL and its member teams:

o   Review and analysis of Team partner agreements and relationships

o   Review, fulfillment and execution of League national partner agreements and assist in developing useful and effective promotions which benefit the partner and the League.

o   Assist in maintenance of League national license program and analysis of each partner’s reports and product development, as well as analysis of e-commerce platforms League-wide.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES:

Professional Requirements:

Open to current college juniors (class of 2016) and seniors (class of 2015), current graduate students and/or recent college graduates.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Major League Lacrosse is seeking a hardworking, creative, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to fill an available internship opportunity in its Brand Management Department specifically targeting the protection and maintenance of its intellectual properties.

Position will report directly to the League’s Brand Manager.  Position is un-paid however academic credit is always available to anyone who requests it ahead of time.  Candidate must provide their own transportation where necessary.

EXPECTED SCHEDULE COMMITMENT:

Position is available for immediate start date and may be flexible in duration with a minimum of a 3 month/12 week commitment to the position.  Extension of commitment may be granted upon request based on performance during initial period.

Candidate will be required to meet in MLL office once each week with MLL Brand Manager for regular status review of projects.  All other work is done remotely with periodic check in as necessary via phone and email with Brand Manager.  Additional office meetings may be scheduled as deemed necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a familiarity with all brand marks and a working knowledge of the US Patent & Trademark office and Canadian Intellectual Property Office websites with relation to status of all owned properties.

Search internet for various use of company owned and trademarked images, names and photography and review findings with MLL Brand Manager for next course of action.

Have a working knowledge of the League and Member Team sponsor partners with regard to permissible use of brand marks.

The Ohio Machine, Ohio’s Major League Lacrosse team, is looking for Spring/Summer 2015 Broadcast Radio Intern who will report to the Director Public Relations & Operations.

The 2015 Spring/Summer Broadcast Radio Intern will be responsible the following duties:

  • Produce all Ohio Machine radio broadcasts for home games and weekly coaches show
  • Serve as play-by-play or color analyst on all games broadcasts on an as needed basis
  • Produce Machine high school game of the week
  • Responsible for gathering pre-game sound from Machine players and/or visiting team for use in game broadcasts or coaches show
  • Record, edit, and log highlights following each home game 
  • Write and produce radio commercials for in-house promotions, external clients, and all other stakeholders
  • Archive and log sound bytes, game broadcasts, and Machine ancillary shows for future productions and maintain organizations of audio suite and audio library

Requirements:

Internship: Sponsorship Sales & Activation
Sponsorship & Marketing Internship (Spring/Summer 2015) - The Ohio Machine (Columbus, OH)

The Ohio Machine, Ohio’s Major League Lacrosse team, is looking for Spring/Summer 2015 Sponsorship & Marketing Interns who will report to the Vice President of Business Operations.

Machine internships are part-time and allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on involvement. The Machine accepts applications from students presently enrolled in a college program. Internships are unpaid but students are encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.

All interns, regardless of department, are expected to assist with general office duties as needed such as answering telephones, filing, mailing prizes to fans, etc. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

Front office is located in Powell, Ohio. Desired term of the internship is February 2015 - August 2015. 

The 2015 Spring/Summer Sponsorship & Marketing Interns will be responsible the following duties:

  • Responsible for working Machine community events and promotions, and ALL home games
  • Assist with planning, coordination and implementation of special events and promotions as well as game presentation and operations
  • Assist with games and special events while working with team sponsors to coordinate elements of marketplace and in-stadium promotional activity
  • Assist with the development and fulfillment of in-game entertainment elements including scheduling and support for halftimes, anthem performers, color guards and timeout activities (sponsored and non-sponsored)
  • Assist in organizing and executing Corporate Partner activities and events
  • Track and manage Corporate Partner promotions and prize fulfillment
  • Assist renewal and new business team with the creation of proposal presentations, including: research of prospective partners, compiling support metrics/data and copywriting
  • Assist activation/renewal team with Season Recap presentations
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
  • Major: Sales, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or Sport Management (preferred, but not required)
  • Exciting, compelling written and oral presentation skills, Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of lacrosse preferred but not required

Digital Media Internship (Spring/Summer 2015) - The Ohio Machine (Columbus, OH)

  • Design and build new site pages, special sections, multimedia applications, and sponsored content for the team’s digital platforms, utilizing HTML, CSS, Javascript and Flash software
  • Creating and editing graphics for the team’s sites and e-mail newsletters, including sponsor advertisements, promotional banners and photos
  • Development of graphic and multimedia elements across digital channels to drive engagement
  • Oversee/perform web and email creation, routine site maintenance and all future development
  • Execute internal marketing campaigns
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
  • Majors: Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or Graphic Design
  • Excellent writing and computer skills, AP style knowledge and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, Dreamweaver, and Flash

  • Maintain clip book and monitor coverage of Machine in local, regional and national news
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned

  • Assisting coaching staff with training sessions and team run camps/clinics
  • Assist in packing all player gear for road games
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned

  • Perform administrative tasks, data entry and community outreach
  • Create, perform and review surveys to increase and improve the Machine’s database
  • Assist with the servicing and sale of any group tickets, birthday party packages and promotional ticket packages
  • Help plan, organize and execute Machine community events
  • Work with group leaders to develop and implement game day events and experiences that result in large ticket purchases and repeat business
  • Develop a pipeline to new customers to support long-term growth objectives
  • Create awareness of team in local markets through business-to-business marketing
  • Assist with any other tasks assigned

Requirements:
